The djembe, from West Africa, is a traditional drum – thought to be anything from 400-800 years old - carved from a single piece of hardwood and topped with an animal skin as a drumhead.

Our friendly djembe workshops take place roughly once a month, on Sunday mornings at Hadleigh Old Fire Station.  We explore a range of rhythms for djembes and dunduns, usually trying out 3 or 4 different rhythms in each session.

See the Calendar page for dates.

We have djembes to share, so booking is strongly advised if you would like to borrow one.  The cost of a session is £10 per person.

Our djembe workshops aren’t advised for younger children, but young people who are physically strong enough to sit with a djembe will be OK.

So, if you would like to learn some new rhythms as part of a relaxed and welcoming group, we look forward to seeing you.
